Some stories don't start in a boardroom. They start in a backyard. I was conceived in the Azores, Portugal. My mother left those islands at 17 - seven months pregnant - to build a better life in São Paulo, Brasil. That courage has been my compass my entire life. I was born in São Paulo. At age 8, I was drawing houses. At age 9, I built a treehouse from scrap wood. At age 10, we moved to Toronto. I never stopped building. 42 years in real estate. 20 years international.
